What Did Jesus teach to be saved? Part 3 Matthew 7:1-29

January 6, 2022

Reverence 2 Corinthians 9:8-15

And God is able to make all grace abound to you, that always having all sufficiency in everything, you may have an abundance for every good deed, as it is written, “He scattered abroad, He gave to the poor, His righteousness abides forever.” Now He supplies seed to the sower and bread for food, will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness; you will be enriched in everything for all liberality, which through us is producing us is producing thanksgiving to God. For the ministry of this service is not only fully supplying the needs of the saints, but is also overflowing through many thanksgiving to God. Because of the proof given by this ministry they will glorify God for your obedience to our confession of the gospel of Christ, and for liberality of your contribution to them and to all, while they also, by prayer on your behalf, yearn for you because of the surpassing grace of God in you. THANKS BE TO GOD FOR HIS INDESCRIBABLE GIFT!

Matthew 7:1-6
Do not Judge, lest you be judged. For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you. Result: If a man is judgmental for any reason, for what ever cause, what ever gain, or thinking that they have the answer of life, the only answer of life and deed. Be willing to listen to others, doesn’t mean you have to act upon what they want. Never give back in kind of what another person might give to you.

And why do you look at the speak that is in your brothers eye? But do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, Let me take the speck out of your eye, and behold, the log is in your own eye?
You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye. And then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brothers eye.

Do not give what is holy to dogs, and do not throw your pearls before swine. Lest they trample then under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.

Ask-Seek-Knock Matthew 7:7-11
Ask, and it shall be given to you. Seek, and you shall find. Knock and it shall be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it shall be opened.

Or what man is there among you, when his son shall ask him for a loaf, will he give him a stone? Or if he shall ask for a fish, he will not give him a snake, will he? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your Father who is in Heaven give what is good to those who ask Him!

Golden Rule Matthew 7:7:12
Therefore, however you want people to treat you, so treat them, for this is the law and the prophets.
If you see a neighbor that needs help, do you go offer your help? Or do you just stand their and watch. If a drivers car stops running in traffic, and the driver is pushing the car, would you stop and help him or her push? How about and 80 year old man trying to build a fence? would you go help? If you and a neighbor had some words, would you try and work it out, or never talk to them again? There is always something one can do to help any situation, think about it, come up with a solution and go do it.
Result: This is the difference of belonging to Christ, having a spirit of help, and people will have a hard time not talking to you. It is always better to give than receive. You will have a happy life and You will make many friends this way, and find help for yourself when you need them.

Two ways of life Matthew 7:13-14
Enter by the narrow gate; For the gate is small, and the way is narrow that leeds to life, and few are those who find it.
for the gate is wide, and the way is broad that leads to destruction.
Result: When one is looking at the pathway one wants to follow. The narrow gate looks to little and constraining. That gate doesn’t offer all the friends, all the activities that I would like. But the broad gate, I can have all kinds of friends, go where ever I want and not worry about having Christ to help you make decisions that build a wholesome life. It will be a life that you never have to worry about ever being seen robbing, stealing, drunkenness, swearing, this is running with the wrong crowd. There is something in between that is also bad, out with your buddies, while your wife and kids are home alone. This could be the other way around too. The choice is entirely yours. The narrow gate, that gives you help all through life. Or, the gate that the vast majority goes through, because one wants the freedom to go where he/she wants, and do what you want, regardless of the consequences up to the last bell. Then it will be to late!

False and True teaching Matthew 7:15-20
Beware of False prophets, Who come to you in sheep clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Grapes are not gathered from thorn bushes, nor figs from thistles, are they? Even so, every good tree bears good fruit; A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, nor can a bad tree produce good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
Answer. So then, you will know them by their fruits.
Jeremiah 5:26-28 For wicked men are found among my people, they watch like fowlers lying in wait; they set a trap, they catch men. 27. Like a cage full of birds, so their houses are full of deceit; therefore they have become great and rich. 28. They are fat, they are sleek, they also excel in deeds of wickedness; they do not plead the cause, the cause of the orphan, that they may prosper; and they do not defend the rights of the poor.
Here we have the word fowler, that is a person who hunts a catches birds. Here we have men that trap other men and takes them captive, and leads them where that person wants them to go. That is what satan does to men and women, he sets traps for them in their sin, to keep them as long as he can.
2 Corinthians 8:9 For you know the grace of the Lord, Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sake He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich. v15. As it is written, He who gathered much did not have too much, and He who gathered little had no lack. (Both had what they needed to supply their need. It is what is needed that Christ works from in our lives, not want.)
1 Timothy 6:18:19 Instruct them to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, storing up for themselves the foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is life indeed.
Result: By the words we speak and actions we are doing. People cannot hide what they believe in very long. Sooner or later their life will speak loudly for what they believe and think. People against Christ will become antagonists. This type of person feels insecure talking to christians or the bible because they only act upon what they have heard, not on what they have read. Their fruits are what they say and the actions that they take day after day with out ever stopping to see if what they say and do have any meaning or value.

True Way into the Kingdom Matthew 7:21-23
Not everyone who says to Me, Lord, Lord will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of the Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform miracles?
Result: Many people want to walk in the world and with Christians when it benefits them. They will talk the talk, but they cannot walk the walk very long. In the end, they will say to the Lord Jesus, I did what you wanted me to do! But Christ will know their heart and what they really believe. The end is in site and they do not want to go to hell so they try to talk their way into heaven. Their life will show who they are, and it is not Christ Jesus.
The difference of building a house upon the Rock, (Christ) Many truths to build upon. and one that built his house upon the sand. (without Christ) 7:24-27
Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine, and acts upon them, maybe compared to a wise man, who built his house upon a rock. And the rains descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and burst against that house: and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded upon the rock.
And everyone who hears these words of Mine, and does not act upon them, will be like a foolish man, who built his house upon the sand. And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and burst against that house, and it fell, and great was its fall.

Final thought on what the people thought about Jesus Teaching 7:28-29
James 2:5 Listen, my beloved brethren; did not God choose the poor of this world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom which He promised to those who love Him.
God does not have a problem

Result: by the people, they were amazed at His teaching; for He was teaching them as one having authority, and not has the scribes. Jesus’s authority was His Fathers, so He did not have to impress anybody. Jesus’s rules were very simple and straight forward. The multitude understood exactly what Jesus was teaching, Jesus did not demand that they do anything. He told them believe in Me, and what I say, because it comes from The Father in Heaven.

What was the function of the scribes. Originally, the scribes would make copies of the original text in Hebrew. They were so miticulas they counted letters in a line, and if it did not add up, they would do it over again. There were Scribes in every synagogue. As the papyrus wore out there would be new texts to take their place. As copiest, they studied the scripture, were editors, jurists and teachers. The scribes were a learned class in old Israel. This started after Israel came out of the 400 year captivity in Egypt in 1445 BC. This is were God gave the Ten Commandments and in the centuries that followed, they were well versed in the law, and its intent. They had no power on their own, and being copiest, they aligned themselves with the real power brokers, the Pharisees.

God does not have a problem with wealth. He has a problem with the means in witch they go to accumulate it and to keep it. People who earn a lot of money Jesus says they are rich. In the bible rich people degrade the poor, look down on Christ,
