Vanity,Vanity, All is Vanity Ecclesiastes Chapter 5 Part 1

March 2, 2024

Reverence: My son give attention to my words; incline your ear to My sayings. Do not let them depart from your sight; keep them in the midst of your heart. For they are life to those who find them, and health to all their whole body. Proverbs 4:20-22 This is for Mind-Soul and Spirit

If Christ was in the beginning, Genesis 1:26, then Christ has all the attributes of God including all wisdom and power. Christ appeared in the Old Testament as the Angel of the LORD. The Angel was the protector of Israel and fought many battles, and killed there enemy in battle. If wisdom came from God, then Christ has all knowledge and wisdom as well. God has given all authority to Christ to act, support, to make believers in Christ has God brought all Israel to Himself. Christ too has all wisdom in His being. If Christ protected Israel in the old testament, He started the Church through Christ, supports all believers, dead and alive, has all authority to save or to cast away, Christ has the wisdom to save, condemn, to kill, send people to Hades, to create a New Heaven and earth, then the scripture below describes Christ from the beginning of creation to the end of time, Christ has all the Wisdom of God, because He is God in the Flesh.

Proverbs 8:21-30
I, wisdom, dwell with prudence, and I find knowledge and discretion. The fear of the LORD is to hate evil; pride and arrogance and the evil way, and the perverted mouth, I hate. Counsel is mine and sound wisdom; I am understanding, power is mine, by kings reign, and rulers decree justice. By Me princes rule, and nobles, all who judge. I love those who love Me; and those who diligently seek Me will find Me. Riches and honor are with Me, enduring wealth and righteousness. My fruit is better than gold, even pure gold, and my yield than choicest silver. I walk in the way of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of justice, to endow those who love Me with wealth, that I may fill their treasuries. The LORD possessed Me at the beginning of His way, before His works of Old. From everlasting I was established, from the beginning, from the earliest times of the earth. When there were no depths I was brought forth. When there were no springs abounding with water. Before the mountains were settled, before the hills I was brought forth; while He had not yet made the earth and the fields, nor the first dust of the world. When He established the heavens, I was there, when He inscribed a circle on the face of the deep, when He made firm the skies above, when the springs of the deep became fixed, when He set for the sea its boundary, so that water should not transgress His command, when He marked out the foundations of the earth; then I was beside Him, as a master workman; and I was daily His delight, rejoicing always before Him, rejoicing in the world, His earth, and having My delight in the sons of men. Now therefore, O sons, listen to Me, for blessed are they who keep my ways. Heed instruction and be wise, and do not neglect it. Blessed is the man who listens to Me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at My doorposts. For He who finds Me finds life, and obtains favor from the Lord. But he who sins against Me injures himself; all those who hate Me love death.

Insufficiences of Human Religion

Ecclesiastes 5:1-7 The words of the preacher, the son of David, king in Jerusalem. 2. Vanity of vanities, says the preacher, vanity of vanities! All is vanity. 3. What advantage does man have in all his work which he does under the sun? 4. A generation goes and a generation comes, but the earth remains forever. 5. Also, the sun rises and the sun sets; and hastening to its place it rises there again. 6. Blowing toward the south, then turning toward the north, the wind continues swirling along; and on its circular courses the wind returns. 7. All the rivers flow into the sea, yet the sea is not full. to the place where the rivers flow, there they flow again.

How do we do this 1st. Guard your steps as you go to the house of God, and draw near to listen rather than to offer sacrifice of fools; for they do not know they are doing evil. 2nd. Do not be hasty in word or impulsive in thought to bring up a matter in the presence of God. For God is in heaven, and you are on the earth, therefore let your words be few. 3rd. For the dream comes through much effort, and the voice of a fool through many words. 4th. When you make a vow to God, do not be late in paying it, for He takes no delight in fools. 5th. Pay what you vow! It is better that you should not vow than that you should vow and not pay. 6th. Do not let your speech cause you to sin and do not say in the presence of the messenger of God that it was a mistake, why should God be angry on account of your voice and destroy the work of your hands? 7th. For in many dreams and in many words there is emptiness. Rather fear God. The lack of God and Christ in ones life is vanity? Vain. Ecclesiastes 5:1-7

In this study, I have broken down paragraphs of important words that I hope you will deepen your understanding of God and Christ. Digging deeper into Gods word is what makes us understand how He wants more of us to walk in a manner worthy of His words and life.

Ecclesiastes 1:1-7 The words of the preacher, the son of David, kin in Jerusalem. 6. Blowing toward the south, then turning toward the north, the wind continues swirling along; and on its circular course the wind returns. All the rivers flow into the sea, yet the sea is not full, to the place where the rivers flow, there hey flow again.

  1. Draw near or nigh to God 1. Then Saul said, let us go down after the Philistines by night and take spoil among them until the morning light, and let us not leave a man of them. And they said, Do whatever seems good to you, so the priests said, “Let us draw near to God here.” 2. Oh draw near to my soul and redeem it; ransom me because of my enemies! 3. Let us draw near with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. 4. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double minded. Be miserable and mourn and weep; let your laughter be turned into mourning, and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves in the presence of the LORD, and He will exalt you.
  2. 1 Samuel 14:36 2. Psalms 69:(18) 22 3. Hebrews 10:22 , 4. James 4:8-10

Hasty 1. Also it is not good for a person to be without knowledge, and he who makes haste with his feet. 2. The plans of the diligent lead surely to advantage, but everyone who is hasty comes surely to poverty. 3. Do not go hastily to argue your case; otherwise, what will you do in the end, when your neighbor puts you to shame? 4. Do you see a man who is hasty in his words? There is more hope for a fool than for him. 5. When the righteous increase, the people rejoice, but when the wicked man rules, people groan. 6. The plans of the diligent lead surely to advantage, but everyone who is hasty comes surely to poverty.

  1. Proverbs 19:2, 2. Proverbs 21:5, 3. Proverbs 25:8 4. Proverbs 29:20 5. Proverbs 29:2 6. Proverbs: 21:5

Impulsive 1. A quick-tempered man acts foolishly, and a man of evil devices is hated. 2. By transgression an evil man is ensnared, but the righteous sings and rejoices. The righteous is concerned for the rights of the poor, the wicked does not understand such concern. Scorners set a city aflame, but the wise man has a controversy with the foolish man, the foolish man either rages or laughs, and there is no rest. Men of bloodshed hate the blames less, but the upright are concerned for his life. A fool always loses his temper, but the wise man holds it back. If a ruler pays attention to falsehood, all his ministers become wicked. The poorman and the oppressor have this in common: The Lord gives light to the eyes of both. The king judges the poor with truth, his throne will be established forever. The rod and reproof give wisdom, but a child who gets his own way brings shame to his mother. When the wicked increase, transgression increases; but the righteous shall see their fall. Correct your son, and he will give you comfort; he will also delight will also delight your soul. 3. An angry man stirs up strife, and a hot tempered abounds in transgression. Proverbs 14:17 2. Proverbs 29:6-18 3. Proverbs 29:22

God has no delight in fools The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction. 2. A fool’s vexation is known at once, but a prudent man conceals dishonor. 3. A fools lips bring strife, and his mouth calls for blows. 4. The words of a whisperer are like dainty morsels, and they go down into the innermost parts of the body. He who is slack in his work is a brother to him who destroys. 5. A whip for the horse, a bridle for the donkey, and a rod for the back of fools. Do not answer a fool according to his folly, lest you be like him. Answer a fool as his folly deserves, lest he be wise in his own eyes. He cuts off his own feet, and drinks violence who sends a message by the hand of a fool. 6. Like one who binds a stone in a sling, so is he who gives honor to a fool. Like a thorn which falls into the hand of a drunkard, so is a proverb in the mouth of fools. 7. A stone is heavy and sand weighty, but the provocation of a fool is heavier than both of them. 8. Better is open rebuke than love that is concealed. Faithful are the wounds of a friend, but deceitful are the kisses of an enemy. 9. We are fools for Christ’s sake, but you are prudent in Christ; we are weak; but you are strong; you are distinguished, but we are without honor. 10. For if I do boast I shall not be foolish, for I shall be speaking the truth; but I refrain from this, so that no one may credit me with more than he sees in me or hears from me. 11. Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men, but wise, making the most of your time, because the days are evil. 11. All scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; that the man of God may be adequate. equipped for every good work. 12. How long, O naive ones, will you love simplicity? And scoffers delight in themselves in scoffing, and fools hate knowledge? Turn to my reproof, behold I will pour out My Spirit on you; I will make My words known to you.

  1. Proverbs 1:7, 2.Proverbs 12:16, 3. Proverbs 18:6-7 4. Proverbs 18:8-9, 5. Proverbs 26:8-9, 6. Proverbs 27:3, 7. Proverbs 27:5-6, 8. 1 Corinthians 4:10, 9. 2 Corinthians 12:6, 10. Ephesians 5:15-17, 11. 2 Timothy 3:16-17, 12. Proverbs 1:22-23

God is in Heaven- you are on earth Oh, that thou wouldst rend the heavens and come down, that the mountains might quake at Thy presence, as fire kindles the brushwood, as fire causes water to boil, to make Thy name known to your adversaries, that the nations may tremble at Thy presence! When you did awesome things which we did not expect, you did come down, the mountains quaked at Thy presence. For from of old they have not heard nor perceived by ear, neither has the eye seen a God besides Thee, who acts on behalf of the one who waits for Him. 2. For to us God revealed them through the Spirit; first the Spirit searches all things, even the depths of God. 3. But the natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God; for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised. But he who is spiritual appraises all things, yet himself is appraised by no man. For who has known the mind of the LORD, that He should instruct Him? But we have the mind of Christ. For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the Spirit of the man, which is in him? Even so the thoughts of God no one knows except the Spirit of God. Now we have received the spirit of God. Now we have received the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things freely given to us by God. 4. Alas, sinful nation, people weighed down with iniquity, offspring of evil doers, sons who act corruptly! They have abandoned the Lord, they have despised the Holy One of Israel, they have turned away from Him. 5. Mans pride brings him low, but a humble spirit will obtain honor.

  1. 1. Isaiah 65:4, 2. 1 Corinthians 2:10-11 3. 1 Corinthians 2:14-16 4. Isaiah:1:4 5. Isaiah 29:23

Listen 1. Listen to Me, O islands, and pay attention, you peoples from afar. the LORD called Me from the womb; from the body of My mother He named Me. 2. but, just as it is written, Things which eye has not seen and ear not heard, and which have not entered the heart of man, all that God has prepared for those who love Him. 3. It is better that you should not vow than that you should vow and not pay. Do not let your speech cause you to sin and do not say in the presence of the messenger of God that it was a mistake. Why should God be angry on account of your voice and destroy the work of your hands? 4. A jealous and avenging God is the LORD; the LORD is avenging and wrathful, the LORD takes vengeance on his adversaries, and He reserves wrath for His enemies. 3. The LORD is slow to anger and great in power, and the LORD will by no means leave the guilty unpunished. In whirl and and storm is His way, and clouds are the dust beneath His feet. 5. My son, give attention to My wisdom, incline your ear to my understanding; that you may observe discretion, and your lips preserve knowledge.

  1. Isaiah 49:1, 2. 1 Corinthians 2:9, 3. Ecclesiastes 5:5-6, 4. Nahum 1:2-3, 5. Proverbs 5:1

Vows 1. If a man makes a vow to the LORD, or takes an oath to bind himself with a binding obligation, he shall not violate his word; he shall do according to all that proceeds out of his mouth. 2. And he who swears by the temple, swears both by the temple and by who dwells within it. 3. I am the God of Bethel, where you anointed a pillar, where you made a vow to Me, now arise, leave this land, and return to the land of your birth. 4. Then it shall come about that the place in which the LORD your God shall choose for His name to dwell, there you will bring all that I command you: your burnt offerings and your sacrifices, your tithes, and the contribution of your hand, and all your choice votive offerings which you will vow to the LORD. 5. When you make a vow to the LORD your God, you shall not delay to pay it, for it would be sin in you, and the LORD your God will surely require it of you. 6. Fear God, Better to fear God than ignore Him.

Watch 1. Set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth; keep watch over my lips. 2. And it will come about that as I have watched over them to pluck up, to break down, to overthrow, to destroy, and to bring disaster , so I will watch over them to build and to plant, declares the LORD. 3. Behold, I am watching over them for harm and not for good, and all the men of Judah who are in Egypt will meet their end by the sword and by famine until they are completely gone. 4. For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will show great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if possible, even the elect. (Watch for signs, they maybe false.) 5. And what I say to you, I say to all, be on the alert! 6. Keep watching and praying, that you may not come into temptation; the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak. 7. Whether He comes in the second watch, or even the third, and finds them so, blessed are those slaves. 8. Remember therefore what you have received and heard; and keep it, and repent. If therefore you will not wake up, I will come like a thief, and will not know at what hour I will come upon you.

God’s Diligence to us, and us to Him 1. Blessed be God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Christ Jesus from the dead. 2. As to this salvation, the prophets who prophesied of the grace that would come to you made careful search and inquiry, seeking to know what person or time the spirit of Christ within them indicating as He predicted the sufferings of Christ and the glories to follow. 3. Therefore, beloved, since you look for these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, spotless and blameless. 4. For the eyes of the LORD move to and fro throughout the earth He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His. 5. Faithful are the wounds of a friend, but deceitful are the kisses of an enemy. 6. Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the LORD, she shall be praised.

Deceitful For they do not speak peace, but they devise deceitful words against those who are quiet in the land. 2. Vindicate me O God, and plead my case against an ungodly nation; o deliver me from the deceitful and unjust man! 3. But Thou, O God, wilt bring them down to the pit of destruction; men of bloodshed and deceit will not live out half their days. 4. Deliver my soul O LORD from lying lips, from a deceitful tongue. 5.Faithful are the wounds of a friend, but deceitful are the kisses of an enemy. 6.Proverbs 31:30 Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the LORD, she shall be raised. 7. For such men are false prophets, deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, even satan disguises himself as an angel of light.

  1. Psalm 35:20 2. Psalm 43:1 3. Psalm 55:23 4. Psalm 120:2 5. Proverbs 27:6 6. 2: Corinthians 11:13 7. 2 Corinthians 12:13

Discretion
1.Discretion will guard you, understanding will watch over you, to deliver you from the way of evil, from the man who speaks perverse things; from those who leave the paths of uprightness to walk in the way of darkness. 2. He who walks in his uprightness fears the LORD, but he who is crooked in his ways despises Him. In the mouth of the foolish is a rod for his back, but the lips of the wise will preserve them. 3. So He sets on high those who are lowly, and those who mourn are lifted up to safety. He frustrates the plotting of the shrewd, so that their hands cannot attain success. 5. For an evil doer listens to wicked lips, a liar pays attention to a destructive tongue. He who mocks the poor reproaches his maker; he who rejoices at calamity will not go unpunished. 6. For the eyes of the Lord move to and fro through out the earth that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His. 6. Watch the path of your feet, and all your ways will be established; turn your foot from evil. 7. But everyone will die for his own iniquity; each man who eats the sour grapes, his teeth will be set on edge. 8. Watch over (guard) your heart with all diligence, for from it flow the springs of life. Put away a deceitful mouth, and put devious lips far from you. Let your eyes look directly ahead, and let your gaze be fixed straight in front of you. Watch the path of your feet, and all your ways will be established. Do not turn to the right or to the left; turn your foot from evil. he eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous, and His ears are open to their cry. The face of the Lord is against evil doers, to cut off the memory of them from the earth. The righteous cry and the LORD hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. 9. The Lord is near to the broken hearted, and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous; but the LORD delivers him out of them all. He keeps all his bones; not one of them is broken. Evil shall slay the wicked; and those who hate the righteous will be condemned.
