Matthew 13:1-58

Reverence Colossians 2:2-3

That their hearts may be encouraged. having been knit together in love, and attaining to all the wealth that comes from the full assurance of understanding, resulting in a true knowledge of God’s mystery, that is Christ Himself, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

Matthew 13: 1-58

Christ teaching disciples on present and future events.

Introduction.

What does this have to do with a mans mind or what he thinks about inside, not outside, or what does up bringing have to do with what one believes. All that was just said is all internal, not external. With Christ, He and His words have to be taken inside oneself to change ones life. It is Just Jesus and you, alone. Jesus wants you, but it is your choice, and as all choices, there are consequences for them.

All of these events put a light on how many believers there will be and how big it will in heaven. Jesus 1-2 On that day Jesus went out of the house, and was sitting by the sea, And a great multitude gathered to Him, so that He got into a boat and sat down, and the whole multitude was standing on the beach. And He spoke many things to them in parables, saying.

Thought: 1-2 What does this have to do with a mans mind or what he thinks about inside, not outside, or what does up bringing have to do with what one believes. Jesus 3-4/18-19 Behold, the sower went out to sow; and as he sowed, some seeds fell beside the road, and the birds came and ate them up.

Answer./18-19 Hear the parable of the sower. When anyone hears the word of the kingdom , and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what has been sown in his heart.

Jesus 5 &6/20,21 And others fell on the rocky places, where they did not have much soil; and immediately they sprang up, because they had no depth of soil. But when the sun had risen, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.

Answer. /20,21 And the one on whom seed was sown on the rocky places, this is the man who hears the word, and immediately receives it with joy. Yet he has no firm root in himself, but is only temporary, and when affliction or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he falls away.

Jesus 7/ 22 And when others fell among the thorns, and the thorns came up and choked them out.
Answer /22 And the one on whom seed was sown among the thorns, this is the man who hears the word, and the worry of the world, and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.

Thought: satan is always looking for who he can deceive. He will go to great length to keep anybody out of the kingdom. He does not want to lose anyone. He knows his fate, it was given to him in Genesis 3. The question is, how many is he going to take with him to the abyss.

Jesus 8-9 /23 And others fell on the good soil, and yielded a crop, some a hundred fold, some sixty, and some thirty. He who has ears, let him hear.
/23 And the one on whom seed was sown on the good soil, this is the man who hears the word and understands it; who indeed bears fruit, and brings forth , some a hundred fold, some sixty, and some thirty.

Jesus 10-17 And the disciples came and said to Him, why do you speak to them in parables? And He answered and said to them, To you (The disciples) it has been granted to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been granted. For whoever has, to him shall more be given, and he shall have an abundance; but whoever does not have, even what he has shall be taken away from Him. “This is the beginning of revealing different mysteries about Christ in the Holy Bible.”

Jesus Answer: Therefore I speak in parables; because while seeing they do not see, and while hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand. And in the case the prophecy of Isaiah is being fulfilled, which says, “You will keep on hearing, but will not understand; and you will keep on seeing, but will not perceive; for the heart of this people has become dull, and with their ears they scarcely hear, and they have closed their eyes lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart and return, and I should heal them.” For truly I say to you, that many prophets and righteous men desired to see what you see, and did not see it; and to hear what you hear, and they did not hear it.
Meaning. What does it mean for whoever does have, to him more shall be given, and have an abundance, but whoever does not have, even what he shall have will be taken away. The answer is, that the Wisdom and knowledge of God is paramount to all believers. Some people accept Christ, these who have accepted Christ and study His word, and believes in Him, more shall be given to him. And to those who do not have, they have rejected Christ and all that Jesus stands for, His offer of salvation and eternal life with Him. To these people, all shall be taken away, at the end of time they shall go to the abyss.

Another example: We have is the parable of the talents. Matthew 25:14-30 The first was given 5 talents, and he earned five more and gave back ten. The second was given two talents, he took the two talents and earned two more. He gave 4 back. Then the master said to them, well done good and faithful slave; you were faithful with a few things, I will put you in charge of many things, enter into the joy of your master.
Then we have the third man received one talent. He thought his master was a hard man reaping where he did not sow and gathering where you scattered no seed. He answered Jesus, and I was afraid, and went away and hid his talent in the ground; upon the masters return he said, “see you have what is yours.” The master answered and said you wicked and lazy slave, you knew that I reap where I did not sow, and gather where I scattered no seed.

Thought: This is the difference of people who believe in Christ and those who don’t. Believers believe Christ is the reason they have what they have, sometimes we have more than we need. Non believers have a hard time believing that they didn’t earn everything they have. All things are perishing with him. Jesus is keeping and rewarding all who belong to Him and have made a profession of faith, Jesus keeps all His believers where they belong, dead or alive.
Ones mind, heart, and spirit must be renewed and filled with the love of Christ and God to be effective in preserving ones soul. Where are you today? Which way are you leaning, for Christ, or opposed to Christ?

Jesus 24-30: He spoke another parable to them saying, “The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a man who sowed good seed in his field. But while he was sleeping, his enemy came and sowed tares also among the wheat and went away. But when the wheat sprang up and bore grain, then the tares became evident also. And the slaves of the landowner came and said to him, sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have tares? And He said to them, and enemy has done this! And the slaves said to him, do you want us, then, to go gather them up, but he said, no, lest while you are gathering up the tares, you root up the wheat with them. Allow both to grow together until the harvest; and in time of the harvest I will say to the reapers, First gather up the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them up; but gather the wheat into my barn.

Thought: We have the wheat, the believers of Christ, the tares are people of the devil, doing evil, lying ,killing, stealing and such as this. Not all unbelievers are doing evil, but their fate is the same, unbelief is a sentence of eternity without Christ and God. The tares are from the devil, they are people planted among the believers and are teachers of evil. But until the end, they are living side by side, making friends with one another, influencing one another.

Explanation of the wheat and tare 36-42 Then He left, the multitudes, and went into the house. And His disciples came to Him saying, explain to us the parable of the tares of the field. And He answered and said, “The one who sows the good seed is the Son of Man, (Jesus) and the field is the world; and as for the good seed, these are the sons of the kingdom; and the tares are the sons of the evil one; (satan) and the enemy who sowed them is the devil, and the harvest is the end of the age; and the reapers are the angels. The tares are teachers of the devil to try and entice people away from Christ. Therefore just as the tares are gathered up and burned with fire, so shall it be at the end of the age. The Son of Man will send forth His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all stumbling blocks, and those who commit lawlessness, and will cast them into the furnace of fire; in that place there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Then the righteous will shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their father. He who has ears, let him hear. John 12:24 Truly, Truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and die, it remains by itself alone, but if it dies, it bears much fruit. Here we have a believer that has to recognize that one has to die to one’s self before being able to serve Christ. It could also be that they start serving and die to self gradually. Which ever comes first we have to dye to self to hear what Jesus Christ wants to talk to those who serve Him. When one dies to self, you may be doing something that you would have never thought about. But with God all things are possible. Matthew 19:26
In serving Christ and God, at the time we become believers Christ gives us His Spirit. The helps us read our bible, the Spirit will help us to decern what people say, and their actions. The Spirit helps us in every aspect of life, conviction of sin, guides us in our ways of Christ, plus it will guide us in a certain direction to better serve Christ.

Jesus 31-32 The parable of the Mustard Seed Jesus presented another parable to them, saying, The Kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and sowed in his field; and this is smaller that all other seeds; but when it is full grown, it is larger than the garden plants, and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come to nest in its branches.

Thought: Jesus wants us to l know how big the kingdom of heaven will be. In my understanding from scripture that the larger share of people will not be in the kingdom because of the care of this world, the word of Christ will be blasphemed and people will turn away because of that. And, people while alive will not want to worry or think about a God that watches out for them or wants them to live a life of Godly pursuit.

Jesus 33-35 Parable of the leaven He spoke another parable to them, The kingdom of heaven is like leaven, which a woman took, and hid it in three pecks of meal, until it was all leavened. All these things Jesus spoke to the multitudes in parables, and He did not speak to them without a parable, so that what was spoken through the prophet might be fulfilled, saying, ” I will open My mouth in parables; I will utter things hidden sense the foundation of the world.

Jesus 43 Then the righteous will shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears, let him hear.
Jesus 44-50 The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in the field, which a man found and hid; and from joy over it he goes and sells all that he has; and buys that field. Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking fine pearls, and upon finding one pearl of great value, he went and sold all that he had, and bought it. Again the kingdom of heaven is like a dragnet cast into the sea, and gathering fish of every kind; and when it was filled, they drew it up on the beach; and they sat down, and gathered the good fish into containers, but the bad they threw away. So it will be at the end of the age; the angels shall come forth, and take out the wicked from among the righteous, and will cast them into a furnace of fire; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Jesus 51-52 Jesus asked His disciples, Have you understood all these things? They said yes. And He said to them, therefore every Scribe who has become a disciple of the kingdom of heaven is like a head of a house hold, who brings forth out of his treasure things new and old. Thought: Why things new and old. The Scribes are from Judaism from the written word was being transcribes. The scribes main function was to copy the scrolls letter by letter, It was a tedious job. They didn’t have printing in those days. It was the scribes duty to transcribe the scrolls and to have them ready when one would wear out. So, the scribes are coming from the old system into the new system, Christianity and the belief in Christ Jesus, the law that was started at Mount Sinai in about 1440 BC, the law is replaced with new words and deeds, thoughts are done inside, the O.T. was for people to obey by external law written on paper, where now Christ wants it written on our hearts.

Jesus 53 And it came about that when Jesus had finished these parables, He departed from there
Jesus 54-58 And coming to his home town (of Nazareth) He began teaching them in their synagogue, so that they became astonished, and said, where did this man get this wisdom, and these miraculous powers? Is not this the carpenter’s son? Is not His mother called Mary, and His brothers, James and Joseph and Simon, and Judas? And His sisters, are they not all with us? Where then did this man get all these things? And they took offense at Him. But Jesus said to them, “a prophet is not without honor except in his home town, and in his own household. And He did not do many miracles there because of their unbelief.

Recap: What Jesus taught. 1. Jesus is the one that saws the good seed. 2. The field is the world. 3. The good seed are the sons of the kingdom, to come spreading the word of Christ. 4. The tares are the sons of the devil. 5. The harvest is the end of the age. (the world) 6. The reapers are angels. 7. Then believers will shine forth as the moon and stars. 8. They will gather out of the kingdom all stumbling blocks, and those that commit lawlessness, and they will be cast into the furnace, where weeping and gnashing of teeth will go on into eternity. With eternity, it has no ending, it goes on, and on, and on, you get the idea, it is perpetual, every day all day, except there will be no consciousness of time. 9. To a believer, heaven will be worth what ever it cost you while on this earth. That cost might be a really good job, but the management didn’t have very good morals. Your friends did like you being a christian, so you weren’t their friend anymore. You lived in a mediocre house, it was all you could afford because you believed in tithing rather than worldly things. You never spent more than what you were able to pay. You are looking to the end of time when your reward will be waiting for you. Jesus will be there with you giving you the crown of life, to those that believe in Jesus Christ! 10. Jesus reaps where He did not sow, and gathers where he scattered no seed.
