Abiding in our Lord Jesus

February 12, 2020

Reverence:  Psalm 100:1-5    Shout joy full to the Lord, all the earth. Serve the Lord with gladness; come before Him with joyful singing. Know that the Lord Himself is God; it id He who has made us, and not we ourselves; we are His people and the sheep of His pasture. Enter His gates with thanksgiving, and His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him; bless His name, for the Lord is good; His lovingkindness is everlasting, and His faithfulness to all generations.

Abiding in our Lord Jesus                      Parts 3                         February 12, 2020

Testify of Me!                                                                                                                                                           1. Come and hear, all who fear God, and I will tell you of what He has done for my soul. 2. But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy. And the seed whose fruit is righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace. (One has to be peaceful to make peace.) 3. The one who believes in the Son of God has the witness in himself; the one who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed in the witness that God has borne concerning His Son. 4. And they over came him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, and they did not love their life even to death. 5. But the witness which I gave is greater than that of John; for the works which the Father has given Me to accomplish, the very works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father has sent Me. 6. And He ordered us to preach to the people, and solemnly to testify that this is the One who has been appointed by God as judge of the living and the dead. 7. And from that city many Samaritans believed in the woman who testified, He told me all things that I have done. 8. There was a man that had many demons in him in the land of the Gearasenes. It was so bad that he did noit live in a house and wore no clothing. When he saw Jesus he cried out to Jesus and asked Him for help. But the unclean spirit said to Jesus, “What do I have to do with You Jesus, Son of the Most high God. I beg you, do not torment me” Jesus asked him his name and the demon said it is legion. Jesus had been commanding the unclean spirit to come out of him. The demon had been asking Jesus not to command them to go to the abyss. Instead, Jesus sent them into a herd of swine, that ran down the hill into the lake and died. The people from the surrounding district, ask Jesus to depart from them. The healed man wanted to go with Jesus, but Jesus said, ” Return to your house and describe what great things God has done for you. And he went away, proclaiming through the whole city what great things Jesus had done for him. 9. Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, or of me His prisoner; but join with me in suffering for the gospel according to the power of God.” Yes, Jesus wants us to join Him in is suffering, to get people to come to Him.
1. Psalm 66:16, 2. James 3:17,18, 3. 1 John 5:10, 4. Revelation 12:11, 5. John 5:36, 6. Acts 10:42 7. John 5:39, 8. Luke 8:26-40, 9. 2 Timothy 1:8

Most of the disciples were martyred  in some way shape or form.  Stephan was martyred by being stoned out side a synagogue, Peter was hung upside down in Rome, at his request. Matthew had gone to Ethiopia, and some disagreement on his martyrdom. Thomas was martyred while being impaled by a spear. They were martyred because of their testimony for Jesus Christ.
There is an apostle of Jesus Christ, that didn’t start out as an apostle. He was an enemy of the cross of Christ.  his name was Saul of Taursus. He was a Pharisee, his father was also a Pharisee. Saul was well schooled in the Jewish Law and customs. The Pharisees opposed Jesus Christ and the church at every turn, and persecuted people who had made a profession of Faith. They would be either stoned, hanged, beaten and threatened. The main body of Pharisees in Jerusalem made papers for Saul to give to local officials to make what they did legal. They did this as a deterant for new christians accepting Christ. One day Saul was going to Damascus, Syria with such papers, to bring back to Jerusalem new Christians for trial. On the road to Damascus a bright light shown around him, Saul fell off his horse to the ground, and the voice said, Saul, Saul why are you persecuting me. Acts 8 & 9 Then Saul was taken to Damascus and Ananias was told to go get Saul and bring him to his house and pray for him to receive is sight. Ananias also introduced Saul to the Apostles in Damascus at the time and He got up and testified of Jesus. During this time Jesus changed Saul’s name to Paul and told Paul what he must suffer for My names sake. He will appear before the gentiles, before kings and your fellow Israelite’s as a witness for Christ. During Paul’s ministry he said that three times he was beaten with rods, once he was stoned, three times he was beaten with 39 lashes each time, ship wrecked, spent a night and a day in the deep waters, On frequent journeys, he had dangers from rivers, robbers, from my countryman, from the gentiles, from my false brethren. Paul has been in great labor and hardships, many sleepless nights, hunger and thirst, often without food, in cold and exposer.    2 Corinthians 11:23-27
But Christ was with Him every step of the way. Why do you think Jesus chose Paul. He knew the Hebrew ways, culture, scriptures, and then Paul went on to write two thirds of the new testament. Paul testified of Christ without any questions of hardship, but faithful in all things to Christ. The other apostles also suffered in testifying for Christ.

The Spirit of Truth: John 15:26-27, John 3:5-8, John 14:16-17

1. When the helper comes, (The Holy Spirit) God is the Spirit of the world. Since God is Spirit, it is He whom I will send to you from the Father, that is the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, He will bear witness of Me, 27. and you will bear witness also, because you have been with Me from the beginning. 2. And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another helper. that He may be with you forever; that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannoit receive, because it does not behold Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you, and will be in you. 3. But having the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, I believed, therefore I spoke, we also believe, therefore also we speak. 4. Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, handling accurately the word of truth. 5. And to bring to light what is the administration of the mystery which for ages has been hidden in God, who created all things; in order that the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known through the church to the rulers and the authorities in the heavenly places. 6. Jesus answered, Truly, Truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Sprirt, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh. Do not marvel that I said to you, you must be born again. The wind blows where it wishes and you hear the sound of it, but do not know where it comes from and where it is going; so is everyone who is born of the Spirit.

Fruit of the Spirit Galatians 5:22-23

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
Faith and Christ, Ephesians 3:17-20, Philippians 3:8-9,
God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. 4. And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, and they did not love their life even unto death. 5. But the witness which I have is greater than that of John; for the works which the Father has given Me to accomplish, the very works that I do, bear witness of Me, that the Father has sent me. 6. And He ordered us to preach to the people, and solemnly to testify that this is the One who has been appointed by God as judge of the living and the dead. 7. You search the scriptures, because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is these that bear witness of Me.

Christ Jesus

1. There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, for the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death. 2. I have been crucified with Christ: and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me, and delivered Himself up for me. 3. Therefore if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature, the old things passed away; behold new things have come. Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ, and gave us the ministry of reconciliation . Namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation. 4. As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, having been firmly rooted and now being built up in Him and established in your faith, just as you were instructed, and over flowing with gratitude. 5. If then you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 6. Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth. 3. For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 7. When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory. 8. To whom God willed to make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. 9. These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world. 10. My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; and I give eternal life to them, and they shall never perish; and no one shall snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand. I and the Father are the same.

God and Christ’s Peace and what it will do for you

1. The Lord bless you, and keep you; The Lord make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up His countenance on you, and give you peace. 2. The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and our sons forever, that we may observe all the words of the law. ( this is what Jesus does) 3. Keep your tongue from evil, and your lips from speaking deceit. Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it. The eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous, and His ears are open to their cry. 4. Mark the blameless man, and behold the the upright; for the man of peace will have posterity. 5. Loving kindness and truth have met together, righteousness and peace have kissed each other. 6. When a man’s ways are pleasing to the Lord, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him. 7. He who restrains his words has knowledge , and he has a cool spirit is a man of understanding. 8. For a child be born to us, a son will be given to us; and the government will rest on His shoulders; and His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. 9. Or let him rely on My protection, let him make peace with Me, let him make peace with Me. 10.And the work of righteousness will be peace, and the service of righteousness, quietness and confidence forever. 11. How lovely on the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who announces peace, and brings good news of happiness, Who announces salvation, and says to Zion, your God reigns. 12. The righteous man perishes, and no man takes it to heart; and devout men are taken away, while no one understands, for the righteous man is taken away from evil, he enters into peace; they rest in their beds, each one who walked in his upright way. 13. There is no peace, says my God, for the wicked. 14. These are the things which you should do; speak truth to one another; judge with truth and judgment for peace in your gates. 15. True instruction was in his mouth, and unrighteousness was not found on his lips; he walked with Me in peace and uprightness, and he turned many back from iniquity. 16. (Jesus Christ came) To shine upon those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace. 17. These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world. 18. For the mind set in the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace. 19 Therefore do not let what is for you a good thing be spoken of as evil, for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. v19. So then let us pursue the things which make for peace and the building up of one another. 20. Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. 21. Finally, brethren, rejoice, be made complete, be comforted, like minded, in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you. 22. Being diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body, and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all who is over all and through all and in all. 23. Be anxious for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, shall guard your hearts and your mind in Christ Jesus. 24. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful. 25. And by common confession great is the mystery of godliness: He who was revealed in the flesh, was vindicated in the Spirit, beheld by angels, proclaimed among the nations, believed in the world, taken up in glory.

These verses will help us to abide in Him. When we do this we will find peace for our lives and learn to be peaceful to other people in our lives, to emulate Christ and not make Him a liar in our lives.
