Abiding in the Lord Jesus      Part 1

1-21-2020

Reverence to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Hebrews 12:28-29
Therefore, since we receive a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us show gratitude, by which we may offer to God and acceptable service with reverence and awe; for our God is a consuming fire.

Abiding              Part 1 John 15:1-9

Revelation 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come into him, and will dine with him and he with Me.

Jesus is knocking at the door of our mind and heart. Jesus Christ, the same Jesus that was present at the creation of the Heavens and the earth. Genesis 1. The first thing we have to do is realize we do not have all the answers of life and our short comings and answer the door. He wants to wake us up from our slumber, to think of this life with Him as something more than just getting along in this life. Jesus wants us to come alive in Him.  Life goes beyond our own life, that is what Christ wants us to look for, that we live not only for ourselves, but for others who need Christ. Sometimes it is a helping hand, other times it is a prayer for somebody, or a witness for the Lord Jesus Christ, as Christ put it, be ready in season and out of season.  2 Timothy 4:2  We do not want to walk through life with no meaning. Jesus wants us to believe that because of the giving of His life, and blood, and going to the cross, and hanging on it, that He gave His life for my sin, so Christ is the mediator between God and man.  Christ takes our defense when satan goes to God and slanders us.  Sometimes Christ wants us to help others in their struggles of life, a kind word, a little sympathy, that is what Jesus has done for us. Jesus has wrapped all this into believing in Jesus Christ.  Let us do this for one another in our lives.
What are some of the phrases Jesus uses in John 15 that describes what Christ wants to happen in our lives because of His word,

1. Abide in Me. and I in you.  They will bear much fruit if they abide in Me. John. 15:4-9 2. Keep My commandments. John 15:10-16 Do not think I came to abolish the law, but to fulfill the law.  Abide in My love. Matthew 15:10-16  3. love one another John 15:17 just as I loved you, no greater love than this to lay down your life for a friend.  Jesus said, “you are My friends.” John 15:10  4. World hates Me and you also.  Remember the world hated Me first before it hated you.  John 15:18 5.  The Spirit of Truth come.  The Holy Spirit will come from the Father in the form of the Spirit of truth.  John 15:26  6. Testify of Me.  Those who bear witness of Jesus. John 5:39

What is abiding
Are there threads or layers to the word abiding, that connects the spiritual, non- spiritual, all that man is in Christ, as the seamless interaction between the believer and Christ, Once abiding takes place, Christ lives in you and you live in Christ to do His will in your life.  Christ said you are clean because my word has spoken to you. John 15:3  To abide you need to believe that Jesus is who He says He is.  Without that, you will never really believe and come to abiding in Christ.  Since their are threads in the word abide, any single thread is easily broken. The threads when woven together make the bond to Christ very strong.  I list five threads in John 15, and one thread in John 5:39, when woven together they will never be broken in a believers life.

My words abide in you John 15:1-9

1.  I am the true vine, and My Father is the vine dresser.  2. Every branch of Mine that does not bear fruit, He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit, He prunes, that it may bear more fruit.  3. You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.
4.  Abide in Me, and I in you.  As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you, unless you abide in Me.  5. I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me, and I in him, he bears much fruit; apart form Me you can do nothing.  6. If anybody does not abide in Me, he is thrown away as a branch, and dries up; and they gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.  7. If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it shall be done for you.  8. By that I came not to destroy the law, but to fulfill it.  Matthew 5:10 9. Just as the Father has loved Me, I have also loved you; abide in My love.

This is a give and take opportunity from Jesus Christ. To give yourself totally to Jesus Christ to do His will in your life. To let Him guide you through your lifes ups and downs. To pray for direction, pray for your family, pray for the direction Jesus would have you go.  Look for every opportunity to talk to Christ, allow Him access to your thoughts and actions.  Then, you take what He offers.  Christ offers you peace in your life, about the direction of your life, assurance that He will never leave you or forsake you.  Dueteronomy 31:6 You know that in the middle of the storm, Jesus is with you, talking to you, giving advice.  That advice will come in the form of solutions to problems as they arise. After a while you will come to trust Him, because you will know that He is there every minute of every day wanting to talk to you.  The Holly Spirit that He gives you will quicken your spirit to recognize problems and solutions.  Jesus wants you to come to the fact that the Father and the Son are the same.  When you know Him, you know the Father as well.  That is when you know that you are abiding in Christs love for you.  It takes two to abide, Will you make that connection today, to be bonded to and abide in Christ?

1. The one who says he abides in Him ought himself to walk in the same manner as He walked. 2. As for you, let that abide in you which you heard from the beginning. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, you also will abide in the Son and in the Father. 3. And as for you, the anointing which you received from Him abides in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as His anointing teaches you about all things, and it is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you abide in Him.And now, little children, abide in Him, so that when He appears, we have confidence and not shrink away from Him in shame at His coming. 4. No one who abides in Him who sins; no one who sins has seen Him or knows Him. Little children, let no one deceive you; the one who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous. The one who practices sin is of the devil; for the devil has sinned from the beginning. The Son of God appeared for this purpose, that He might destroy the works of the devil. 5. No one has beheld God at any time; if we love one another, God abides in us, and His love is perfected in us. By this we know that we abide in Him and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit. Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. 6. Anyone who goes to far and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God; the one who abides in the teaching, he has both the Father and the Son. 7. Jesus therefore was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, If you abide in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine. 32. And you shall know the truth; and the truth shall make you free.
