The Tares, The Chaff and the Wheat
The Tares, the Chaff and the Wheat Article 21 March 7, 2018
My reverence in this article is the statement below. Say it to yourself, God Loves Me!
God Loves you! He is waiting to hear your voice asking Him to come into your life.
Characteristics of the ungodly = Tares
In this parable we have the perpetual battle between good and evil. God sows the good seed, satan comes along under the cover of darkness and sows the evil seed. The evil seed of satan is to get people to not believe in God, satan will get you to believe him by a lie or deception, satan will try to make God look petty, In His Word by going against a societal norms. When satan deceived Eve, God passed judgment on satan and said, “because you have done this, cursed are you more than cattle, than the beast of the field, dust you shall eat and I will put animosity between you and the woman, between her seed and your seed. The only question that remains is this, how may people will go to the pit with him? Those who do not want to believe are those with some moral issues, because they would have to change if they believed. They would rather go to the pit with satan than change. Genesis 1:1-31
1. And this is the Judgment, that the light came into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the light; for their deeds were evil. For everyone who does evil hates the light, and does not come to the light, lest his deeds be exposed. 2. Because the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so; and those who are in the flesh cannot please God. 3. They profess to know God, but by their deeds they deny Him, being detestable and disobedient, and worthless for any good deed. 4. For the wicked boast if his heart’s desire, and the greedy man curses and spurns the Lord. The wicked, in the haughtiness of his countenance, does not seek Him, all his thoughts are, there is no God. His ways prosper at all times; Thy judgments are on high, out of his sight; as for all his adversaries, he snorts at them. He says to himself, I shall not be moved; throughout all generations I shall not be in adversity. His mouth is full of curses and deceit and oppression; under his tongue is mischief and wickedness, He sits in the lurking places in the villages; in the hiding places he kills the innocent; his eyes stealthily watch for the unfortunate. He lurks in a hiding place as a lion in his lair; he lurks to catch the afflicted; he catches the afflicted when he draws him into his net. He crouches, he bows down, and the unfortunate fall by his mighty ones. He says to himself, God has forgotten; He has hidden his face; He will never see it. 5. Being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil, full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice; they are gossips, slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, without standing, untrustworthy, unloving, unmerciful; and although they know the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, they not only do the same, but also give hearty approval to those who practice them. 6. And you are dead in your trespasses and sins, in which you formerly walked according to the course if this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience. Among them too all formerly lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest. 7. But these, like unreasoning animals, born of creatures of instincts to be captured and killed, reviling where they have no knowledge, will in the destruction of those creatures also be destroyed, suffering wrong as the wages of doing wrong. They count it a pleasure to revel in the daytime. They are stains and blemishes, reveling in their deceptions, as they carouse with you, having eyes full of adultery and that never cease from sin, enticing unstable souls, having a heart trained in greed, accursed children; forsaking the right way they have gone astray, having followed the way of Baalam, the son of Beor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness, but received a rebuke for his own transgression; from a dumb donkey speaking with a voice of a man, restrained the madness of the prophet. These are the springs of water, and mists driven by a storm, for whom the black darkness has been reserved. For speaking out arrogant words of vanity they entice by fleshly desires, by sensuality, those who barely escape from the ones who live in error, promising them freedom while they themselves are slaves of corruption, for by what a man is overcome, by this he is enslaved. For if after they have escaped the defilement’s of the world by the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and are overcome, the last state has become worse for them than the first. For it would be better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn away from the holy commandment delivered to them.

People are like chaff, wicked people, that have no roots, are tossed here and there by what they think or want to do at the moment. If they are following satan instead of Jesus. When wheat is ripe and ready for harvest, they used to pick the heads of the wheat stocks to bring to the threshing floor in a cart. They would then beat the wheat to separate the wheat kernel from the chaff. Sometimes they would make fodder by mixing chaff and stubble, then feed it to the animals as a supplement. Chaff and stubble have no nutritional value. Satan lies to people to get them to come to his side. Lying, murder, stealing, being insulant to parents has no value in any society. Jesus on the other hand will show you the value of a truthful life, lived before Him has value to Him and to you, to society, to family, and how much change will be seen in you. Would you like to live your life in truth and justice?
How acting like chaff and stubble bring us to trouble. Chaff and stubble are compared to evil people through out the bible.
If the gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, in whose case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving, that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is in the image of God. (2 Corinthian 4:3-4) How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the path of sinners, nor sit in the seat of scoffers! But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night . And he will be firmly planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither; and in whatever he does, he prospers. The wicked are not so, but are like chaff which the wind drives away. (Palms 1:1-4) Now I will arise, says the Lord. now I will be exalted, now I will be lifted up. You have conceived chaff, you will give birth to stubble; My breath will consume you like a fire. And the peoples will be burned to lime, like thorns which are burned in the fire. (Isaiah 33:10-12) The prophet who has a dream may relate his dream, but let him who has My Word speak My Word in truth. What does straw have in common with grain? declares the Lord. (Jeremiah 23:28) Alas, the uproar of many peoples who roar like the roaring of the seas, and the rumbling of the nations who rush on like the rumbling of mighty waters! But He will rebuke them and they will flee far away, and be chased like chaff in the mountains before the wind, or like whirling dust before a gale. (Matthrew 3:12) And His winnowing fork is in His hand, and He will thoroughly clear the threshing floor, and He will gather His wheat into the barn, but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire. (Isaiah 17:12-13) And the greatness of thine excellence Thou dost overthrow those who rises up against Thee; Thou dost send forth Thy burning anger, and it consumes them like chaff. (Exodus 15:7) How often is the lamp of the wicked put out, or does their calamity fall on them? Does God apportion destruction is His anger? Are they like straw before the wind, and like chaff which the storm carries away? (Job 21:17-18) But the multitude of your enemies shall become like fine dust, and the multitude of the ruthless ones like chaff which blows away; and it shall happen instantly, suddenly. (Isaiah 29:5-6) Now I will arise, says the Lord, now I will be exalted, now I will be lifted up. You have conceived chaff, you will give birth to stubble; My breath will consume you like stubble; My breath will consume you like a fire. And the peoples will be burned to lime, like cut thorns which I burned in the fire. (Isaiah 33:10-12) Gather yourselves together, yes, gather, O nation without shame, before the decree takes effect, the day passes like the chaff, before the burning anger of the Lord comes upon you, before the day of the Lord’s anger comes upon you. (Zephaniah 2:1-2) And His winnowing fork is in His hand, and He will thoroughly clear the threshing floor; and He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire. (Matthew 3:12)
He presented another parable to them saying, The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a man who sowed good seed in His field. But while the men were sleeping, His enemy came and sowed tares also among the wheat, and went away. But when the wheat sprang up and bore grain, then the tares became evident also. And the slaves of the landowner came and said to Him, Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have tares? And He said to them, a enemy has done this! And the slaves said to Him, do you want us, then, to go and gather them up? But He said no; lest while you are gathering up the tares, you may root up the wheat with them. Allow both to grow together until the harvest; and in the time of harvest, I will say to the reapers, first gather up the tares and bind them in bundles to burn up; but gather the wheat into my barn. (Matthew 13:24-30)
After reading what the people of satan are like and thinking about what is happening in our society, the shootings, killing, robberies, and the amount of robberies that happen even when the people are home. It seems that there is no regard for what other people have worked for, if someone else wants it, they take it, and even kill for it. God loves what He made because after each day He said and it was good. They rob God, of giving God any glory. His invitation in John 3:16 shows the depth of God’s love. “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not parish, but have everlasting life.
God loved everything that He made. He made everything for man that was formed and made by God. He breathed into our nostrils to give us life, and a mind so we could praise Him for it. The mind He gave man, named all the animals, He loved us so much He did not not want our soul to perish. that He sent His son to be beaten, flogged, a crown of thorns to be pushed down on His head, then they drove nails through His hands to keep Him on the cross. God proved His love to man by this act. Yet, man curses God, steals, kills men, women, and children to get what they want, that somebody worked hard to buy. Yet, God say’s, come, I love you, I will forgive you, I can change you, I can help you and show what my love is really like. Just turn from your wicked ways, acknowledge me, and I will give you rest, in your mind, heart and soul.
I was told one time that a life was like looking through a knothole in a fence. When a person looks through the knothole, one can only see a very small part of what is on the other side of the fence. We cannot see what is down the road. We have to take it as we walk. There will be some good things and bad things on or around the road. That road is our lives. There is a book called “To wager her heart”, by Tamera Alexander, she said “God alone sees our lives from start to finish and ordains what the suffering of you and me will be. For He alone sees what we must endure to become more like His Son and be made ready for eternity”.
In the parable of the wheat and tares, it talks about the field. The field that Christ claimed was the world. He made it from something formless and void to something He loved. Genesis 1:1-10 He claimed the domain of mankind. He claims it because He made it, and In that domain, earth, Christ sows the good seed, then the evil enemy, satan or the devil, comes along by stealth and sows the bad seeds, tares grow. Tares are a plant that looks like wheat stock, but never forms any wheat. When good people sleep, the enemy of God, satan or the devil, sneaks in and plants seed that look the same, but have very different views of what is right and wrong. When the slaves of the owner question Him about His field, the owner states that it is His and He only planted the good seed. Then the slaves who attend the field, asked, should we remove the tares, And Christ says no, if you pull the tares out, you could also pull wheat out too. Both seeds are a reference to people on the earth. The seeds look alot alike until the wheat have heads of the grain are formed, and one can really tell the difference. Since these seeds stand for people, they both have the same needs, as jobs to earn a living, wives, children, rub shoulders together, like sports, cars, or other hobbies, they enjoy doing things together. but the good seed looks to Christ for their needs and help. They believe that Christ has the answers of life on earth and eternal life after death. We may like a lot of the same things. But what is believed in truth is much different. Believers have to walk a very fine line. We are supposed to influence them, but we are not to be influenced by them. But Christ would not have us treat them with any less dignity, love, kindness, truth and respect. (Ephesians 4:25) Christ wants us to be a witness to them, but they could turn around and persecute us, to give them life needs and life’s answers. If you treat non believers as the devil, you will never win them over. We can never save anyone, we can point them in the direction of Christ, but it is up to Christ to finish what was started. There is an old saying on the farm, you can lead a horse to water, but you cannot make it drink. During the Billy Graham funeral, Franklin Graham said his dad talked about FAT. What FAT stands for is, Faithfulness, Availability, and Time. What Christ wants from us is our faithfulness, availability and our time to Him in all truth, to the best of our ability. Our ability increases as we read our bible day to day and year by year. Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in Heaven. (Matthew 5:16)
The harvest time is mentioned. Harvest time for the believer and the non believer is death. Both lead to judgment, judgement for the believer is eternal life through the death in Christ. For the unbeliever it is an eternity of fire and brimstone without God. Judgment for the people of this world have the same common end, death. (Hebrews 9:27) But in death we go to two very different places. Those who believe in God and accept Jesus as their Savior, go into the Kingdom of Heaven. Our spirit goes to God and our body goes into the ground to be reunited at the resurrection when Christ returns. Our body and spirit are then reunited and are with Christ for eternity. This is when we receive the new spiritual body, one that will never decay. (Philippians 3:20-21) A believer will have no past sin to worry about, but in Isaiah The people who have never taken Christ as their personal savior go into the grave to go before God at the Great White Throne judgment. It says that at harvest, bundle the tares to burn up, gather My wheat into My barn. At Christs return when our body and spirit are reunited, then we will pass before the judgment seat of Christ to collect our rewards for what we have done for Christ in our lifetime. And I (John) saw a great white throne and Him who sat upon it, from those present, earth and heaven fled away, no place was found for them. “And I saw the dead, the great and the small standing before the throne, and books were opened; and another book was opened, which is The Book of Life; and the dead were judged from the things which were written in the books, according to their deeds. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it, and Death and Hades gave up the dead which were in them; and they were judged, everyone according to their deeds. And death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The second death, the Lake of Fire. And if anyone’s name was not found in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire. Revelation 19:11-13
Jesus has given His love to all, everybody, in every nation, every tongue. Jesus said come. When you come to Jesus He will put His arms around you and say welcome home. Jesus has given His love to you, before you have given yours to Him. God’s word says He loved us while we were yet sinners. Would you accept His love and give Him yours? You will see in time that you have received far more in return than you have ever given back..
