Reverence
Psalms 15
O Lord, who may abide in thy tent? Who may dwell on the holy hill? He who walks with integrity, and works righteousness, and speaks truth in his heart. He does not slander with his tongue, nor does evil to his neighbor, nor takes up a reproach against his friend; In whose eyes a reprobate is despised, but honors those who fear the Lord; he swears to his own hurt, and does not change; he does not put his money at interest, nor does he take a bribe against the innocent. He who does these things will never be shaken.

Praise be to the God of all creation, telling us what we are supposed to be like.

What is the teaching of Jesus on the issues of the day. Matthew 5:1-26 Article 16 Part 1 of 3 January 23, 2017

The issues of today are the same issues that came up yesterday, 100 years ago or 2000 years ago. We keep making the same mistake over and over until we are faced with lifes issues that we cannot do on our own. Some of these issues are in the form of sin and others are not.

When I was thinking about doing an article on the beatitudes.  I was thinking what other material could I get to supplement what He taught. After reading this chapter over and over, I decided that Jesus’s message was very clear, I will add very little material to what Christ has said.. This article is the teaching of Jesus.  Lets start in Matthew 4:23-25 “And Jesus was going about in Galilee, teaching in their Synagogues.  and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every kind of disease and every kind of sickness among the people.  And the news about Him went out into all Syria; and they brought to Him all who were ill, taken with various diseases and pains, demoniac s, epileptics, paralytics; and He healed them. And great multitudes followed Him from Galilee and decapolis, Jerusalem and Judea and from beyond the Jordan.”
Matthew Chapter 5:1-11 This is the blessed part of the chapter for the 7 verses and how He will bless who believe in Him. These are the words of Jesus. And when He saw the multitude, He went up on the mountain; and after He sat down, His disciples came to Him. And opening His mouth He began to teach them saying,
The Blessed verses Matthew 5:3-12

“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.                                             Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.                                                        Blessed are the gentle, for they shall inherit the earth.                                                               Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.      Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.                                                                  Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the sons of God.                                    Blessed are those who have been persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.                                                                                                                            Blessed are you when men cast insults at you, and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely, on account of me. Rejoice, and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
Salt and Light Matthew 5:13-16
“You are salt of the earth, but if the salt has become tasteless, how will it be made salty again? It is good for nothing anymore, except to be thrown out and trampled under foot by men. You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do men light a lamp, and put it under the peck measure, on but a lamp-stand; and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see you good works, and glorify your father who is in heaven.”
Salt can have several meanings. Salt as a flavoring to enhance the flavor of what is being cooked. Salt can also be used has a preservative. Salt is used in curing meat as well.  As Christ cures us from our sin, He starts our preservation process of learning and hiding His word in our heart. As He shows us what He wants us to do, we become salt and light to the people we rub up against. We exhibit the qualities of Christ to make other people interested.  Each one of us has our own personalities that make us unique in who we are.  Christ takes us as we are and refines that personality make up and makes it be what other people see in you, that they want what you have, Christ.  Christ wants to put into you, His Truth, Holiness and steadfastness into Christs vessel, us.  What makes us lose our salt, we get complacent in our faith, lazy on sharing our faith. Christ in His message to these people, they have value to Him, He was healing them, and they were noticing and wanted to be healed, or they were bring friends to be healed.  That is being salt. We can become more valuable to Christ if we learn more about Him.  As we learn about Him we get to be the light to other people to help them along.
What is the importance of salt in a human being, and why is it there? I did not take biology, or chemistry in school, so I wanted to find out the salt content of the human body.  In simple terms along with other chemicals, we were born with about 40 teaspoons of salt in our body, this is the table salt variety.  Just think of God going all the way back to when He made man.  God formed man from the dust of the earth, into the form of a man, God then breathed into the dust of his nostrils.  This makes the creation account of man even more special, because God knew what it was going to take for man to function from day to day to keep mans body fit and operating the way God had intended.  *”We lose salt by daily activities by perspiring and sweating. Another aspect of salt is it helps maintain the fluid in our blood and used to transmit information in our nerves and muscles.  It also helps in the uptake of other nutrients from our small intestines.  ” The body cannot make salt, so we need to replace the salt by the food that we eat and by adding salt in our cooking. We need about 1 teaspoon of salt a day to replenish what has been used in our body.

Jesus fulfills the law Matthew 5:17-19
“Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish, but fulfill.  For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke shall pass away from the law, until all is accomplished.  Whoever then annuls one of the least of these commandments, and so teaches others shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever keeps and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.”
Jesus presents to the people that He can fulfill the law by obeying the law. That Jesus wanted them to obey the law and at the same time they would see His righteousness in fulfilling of the law.  I will show you the end result of the law in Me.  I will not do away with the law, I will show you Messiah and the prophets talked about.  If you will believe Me, you will see that the Law and the Prophets spoke of my coming.  Not the smallest of any letter or punctuation mark will not pass away until all that has been said is accomplished.  Anybody that contradicts the Law and the Prophets will be the least in the kingdom.  Having the Law and the Prophets, those who teach it shall be great in the kingdom.

                                                            Murder Matthew 20:20-26
“For I say to you, that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the scribes and Pharisees, you shall not enter the kingdom of heaven.  You have heard that the ancients were told, you shall not commit murder’ and ‘Whoever commits murder shall be liable to the court.’ But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother shall be guilty before the court; and whoever shall say to his brother ‘Raca’, shall be guilty before the supreme court; and whoever shall say, ‘You Fool,’ shall be guilty enough to go into the fiery hell.  If therefore you are presenting your offering at the alter, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your offering there before the alter, and go your way; first be reconciled to your brother, and then come and present your offering.”

                                                          Adultery Mathew 5:27-32
You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery’; but I say to you, that everyone who looks on a woman to lust for her has committed adultery with her already in his heart.  If your right eye makes you stumble, tear it out, and throw it from you; for it is better for you that one part of your body perish, than your whole body to be thrown into hell.  And if your right hand makes you stumble, cut it off, and throw it from you; for it is better for you that one of the part of your body perish, than for your whole body to go into hell.”

                                                          Divorce Matthew 5:31-32
“And it was said, ‘Whoever sends his wife away, let him give her a certificate of divorce’; but I say to you that everyone who divorces his wife, except for the cause of infidelity, makes her commit adultery;and whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery.
                                                            Vows Matthew 5:33-37
“Again, you have heard that the ancients were told, ‘You shall not make false vows, but shall fulfill your vows to the Lord.’ But I say to you, make no oath at all, either in heaven, for it is the throne of God, or the earth, for it is the footstool of His feet, ‘or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King. Nor shall you make an oath by your head, for you cannot make one hair white or black. But you statement be, ‘Yes, yes’ or ‘No, no’, and anything beyond these is ‘ of evil.”

                                                       Retaliation Matthew 5:38-42
“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor, and hate your enemy’. But I say to you, love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you in order that you may be sons of your living Father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.  For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax-gatherers do the same? And if you greet your brothers only, what do you more than others? Do not even the gentiles do the same? Therefore you are to be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.”

                                                                Love Matthew 5:43-48
You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor, and hate your enemy. ‘ But I say to you, love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you in order that you may be sons of your father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. For if you love those who love you what reward have you? Do not even the tax-gathers do the same.? And if you greet your brothers only, what do you do more than others?  Do not even the gentiles do the same?  Therefore you are perfect, as your Heavenly Father is perfect.”
May the Love of Christ dwell in our hearts, so we may fulfill the law as Jesus has done.
