God the Light of the World Article 6

September 22, 2015

In Genesis 1:3-5  God created light and darkness.  Then God separated the two and named the light day and the darkness He called night.  The light of day and the night has no spiritual meaning.  God’s light has meaning, and spiritual aspect to it.  God’s light stands for purity, and wholesomeness, just as darkness in the bible has a spiritual aspect to it.  Darkness in the bible is equated with sin or wickedness, this sin and wickedness is directly linked to the devil or satan.  Now there is another aspect of God’s light.  When He took His people out of Egypt, He led them by a pillar of fire by night and a pillar of Cloud by day.  The pillar of fire became spiritual light to let them know that God was leading them and watching out for them.  This light gave them the ability to travel day or night for them to know in which direction God was moving.  Exodus 13:21.  In Nehemiah 9:19, it says that “thou, in thy great compassion, didst not forsake them in the wilderness; the pillar of cloud did not leave them by day, to guide them on their way, nor the pillar of fire by night, to light the way in which they were to go”.  In Exodus 14:20 the pillar of fire came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel.  Its purpose was also for protection against the army and let the army know that God was with them  In the Old Testament Israel had another protector and his name was the Angel of the Lord, He went before Israel.  But on this night, not only the pillar of fire was between the Egyptians but also the Angel of the Lord moved from in front of the people to the rear for protection.  Exodus 14:19

Purpose of the Light.  To point us in a direction that steers us away from evil and wickedness.  That direction is pointed straight at God and His Son Jesus Christ, who uphold the standards; He wants us to live and learn His ways, to act upon what He has written, then make the words alive in our Heart, Mind, and Soul.  This will make Him alive in our life, this is a result of the Light and how we live our life after we have encountered the Light of God.  His desire for our life will become our desire for our life according to and by His words.  In Psalm 9:11,  “Light is sown like seed for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart”.  “To shine upon those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace”. Luke 1:79.  Acts 26:18,  “To open their eyes so that they may turn from darkness to light and from dominion of satan to God, in order that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who have been sanctified by faith in Me”.  Then in Isaiah 42:16, “And I will lead the blind by a way they do not know, in paths they do not know, I will guide them, I will make darkness into light before them and rugged places into plains, these are the things I will do, and I will not leave them undone”.

The light also makes us look at our life and remember we are persecuted people, but we are not supposed to act like them, but are alive in Him.  We have trials in this life, and He wants us to accept them as children of the light of all life.  2Corinthians 4:8-9,  “we are afflicted in every way,but not crushed, but not despairing: persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down but not destroyed”.

Even though day and light disappear at the end of this age as we know it today, after the tribulation, daylight and darkness will come to an end.  Darkness of sin also will be brought to an end.  Satan is brought to an end,  all sin and wicked people are vanquished and put into the lake of fire.  When the new heaven and earth comes down out of heaven, the only light will be God’s radiance.  Isaiah 60:1  “Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you”.  Isaiah 60:19,  “No longer will you have the sun for the light of day, nor the brightness will the moon give her light; but you will have the Lord for an everlasting light, and your God for your glory”.  Isaiah 60:20  “Your sun will set no more, neither will your moon wane; for you will have the Lord for an everlasting light, and the days of your mourning will be finished”.  Revelation 21:24,25  “And the nations shall walk by its light, and the kings of the earth shall bring their glory into it, and in the daytime its gates shall never be closed”.  Revelation 22:5  “And there shall no longer be any night, and they shall not have need of the light of a lamp, not the light of the sun, because the Lord shall illumine them and they shall reign for ever and ever”.

Reverence of God in Praise

Praise God that He is without sin, that He is never in crisis.  When we are i crisis, we can look to Him for a steady hand in our lives to help us, yet He was willing to come to earth in the form of a man, Jesus Christ to hang on a cross and die for our sin.  He said the wages of sin is death.  The light of the world was willing to take our sin by our believing in His Son.  Praise Him for our daily provisions that He makes for us.  Praise His Holy name because we can pray to Him.  Praise Him because He created the Sun, Moon and Stars.  Praise Him because He knows all thing.  Praise Him because He knows us better than we know ourselves.  Praise Him because He has set a standard for all people. Praise Him for His breath of life in our body.  Praise Him for healing us in so many ways.  Amen

Praise is to acknowledge God for who He is.

Thanksgiving is more for what he has done

As a change of pace, I want to propose a riddle to you.  Who ever gets the riddle, they will get a well done.  Send us your guess.  The word that we will be working around is EGO.  We have all been around people that have a big ego.  They will say something to always make themselves look better, they will always be looking in a mirror, or make sure that there is never a wrinkle in any of their cloths, or lightly make a snide remark about another person, and they never want to be corrected.  How does the word EGO work with God?  Below is the riddle.  If you have figured it out, put it into a sentence about yourself.  Have fun
